COVID-19: NOT ONLY DARKNESS, BUT CONCRETE RAYS OF LOVE AND HOPE
With the cancellation of one wedding and two parties this week I was stuck with about $2,000 worth of flowers that I would have to charge to a bride but I didn’t want to do that knowing she will need flowers when she rescheduled her wedding. I checked if my insurance would cover it and found out they are not covered.
So I decided to send out an email to my clients and friends letting them know of the situation and offering a 50% discount on floral arrangements. If they purchase an arrangement for $75 they will get a $150 arrangement. Within 10 minutes of sending the email I had 12 orders ranging from $50 to $200.00. Right now we have 37 orders which cover the $2000 cost plus more.
It may not be the right mark up for me but it was more about not holding the bride liable for flowers she wasn’t going to use.
